Abstract :
A traffic control mechanism that eliminates the need for optical buffering and simplifies the routing procedure is experimentally demonstrated within the Data Vortex packet switch. The hierarchical switching system also employs a wavelength-division-multiplexing header-encoding technique to minimize the header processing and routing latency at each hop.
