Abstract :
A method is presented to determine DC motor transients using an 8085-based microcomputer. The scheme was tested in the laboratory and results verified. The step response and the back electromotive force (EMF) constant have been determined for a small permanent-magnet DC micromotor. The results have been cross-checked with those obtained from a storage oscilloscope and the specifications of the manufacturer to a good accuracy. The authors describe the principle of transconduction, the counter programming, the monitoring of the back EMF of the motor, and the program organization
