Abstract :
Error concealment is aimed at masking the effect of the missing blocks to create subjectively acceptable image or video quality. This paper introduces a temporal error concealment technique that reduces the degradation of video quality caused by errors. For video signal, there exists significant statistical redundancy between adjacent video frames in the temporal domain. This redundancy has been exploited in the design of video compression systems. By the same token, this redundancy can be used in error concealment for video transmission. The proposed algorithm makes use of temporal redundancy of a video sequence by a block matching approach. Base on the two-step block-matching principle, a recursive block-matching algorithm is presented. Better performance of proposed algorithm is achieved.
