Abstract :
The particle swarm optimization (PSO) algorithm for parameter optimization of PID controller has been proposed. PSO is an evolutionary algorithm, and comprises of a very simple concept. Instead of using traditional analysis algorithm, the parameters of PID controller such as proportional gain, integral factor, differential coefficient are selected and optimized by PSO. The effectiveness of the proposed optimization algorithm is tested by simulation experiments in the common one-order and two-order industrial models. The simulation shows excellent results in terms of response time and output overshoot for a step reference. The PSO approach provides an attractive method to design the parameters of a PID controller.
