  • Abstract
Complex representation of nucleotides is used to convert sequences of nucleotides into complex digital genomic signals. This approach allows using signal processing methods for handling and analyzing genomic information at nucleotide, codon and amino acid levels in a multiresolution approach. Some basic features of nucleotide sequences can be elicited using these signal representations. Specifically, by using phase analysis, we establish global and large scale features of eukaryote and prokaryote DNA genomic signals that reveal statistical regularities of base and base-pair distributions along DNA strands.
