  • Abstract
A distributed knowledge-based system (DKBS) that supports the construction of simulation models is described. DKBS is designed based on the object-oriented paradigm and implemented in C++ language on the Sun network. The system is capable of constructing a distributed simulation model represented by the System Entity Structure (SES). There are two kinds of objects in the system, the real knowledge object and the proxy knowledge object. Real knowledge objects represent the domain knowledge in the real world. Proxy objects are delegations of the remote knowledge objects and provide operations to the corresponding knowledge objects via remote procedure call (RPC). With this method, this distributed knowledge-based system provides a transparent objects invocation. Therefore, many knowledge objects may exist in different knowledge-based systems on different nodes at the same time
