Abstract :
The authors introduce software designed for the fast development of signal processing applications using a TMS320C25-based board for PC-like computers. The OPAL language is a structured language, related to C or Pascal and featuring specific signal processing instructions, among which are vectorial arithmetic operations, optimized fixed-point data structure and operations, optimized firmware procedure library (fast Fourier transform, filtering, fixed-point vector operations, analog input/output), and open external library (user´s digital signal processing routines written in assembly language). The use of the DSP board as a PC coprocessor as well as an automatic interface generation leads to short development time
