Abstract
This paper describes a responsive manufacturing system based on a heterogeneous hierarchy of agents of three types that reflect the managerial structure of manufacturing enterprises. The system is not only capable of responding rapidly to dynamic changes to fulfil customer needs but enable the utilization of manufacturing resources to be dynamically optimized. In addition, to improve the system efficiency, this paper also introduces a called qua-base acquaintance model which might facilitate the multi-agent internal communication.
