Abstract
This paper gives a review of the development of FOG (fiber optic gyroscope) technology from the perspective of the Photonetics/Ixsea company. It discusses FOG performance improvements over time, and outlines their uses for attitude detection and positioning and in inertial navigation systems (INS). Product ranges for both marine and space applications are described.
