  • Abstract
Programmable-length, fast Fourier transform processors for use in advanced wideband, high-frequency spread-spectrum radar and communication systems have been designed and implemented using new commercially available digital signal processing (DSP) devices. Two FFT architectures that provide real-time continuous-throughput operation at speeds greater than 2 MHz are presented. The transform length is programmable from 64 points to 16 K points, and either 32-bit fixed-point or 32-bit floating-point (IEEE format) arithmetic computations can be performed. These high-performance, single-board FFT processors use only 275 integrated circuits and dissipate less than 100 W. These processors can be used in a variety of DSP operations, including high-speed convolution or correlation, channel equalization, narrowband interference suppression, clutter rejection, and signal-matched filtering
