Abstract
In this paper we present analysis of two types of receivers, transimpedance and low impedance, for chip-to-chip short distance interconnects. We investigate the combined transmitter and receiver power of links containing each type of receiver as part of a hard-wired interconnect. We find that the power consumption of a complete optoelectronic link as a function of bit rate for low impedance receiver links is often better than for transimpedance amplifier short distance links.
