Abstract
Operation principles and implementation problems for components are considered in the one cluster of the dielectric element base (DEB) used for creation of the large number of various passive millimeter-wave devices. The object under investigation is the complex of phenomena and specific properties of semi-shielded dielectric waveguides (SSDWG) representing a dielectric element located between two conducting plates. It is shown that devices and circuits in the SSDWG element base have a unique combination of quality properties, which cannot be achieved in the other DWG types and, thus, have essential application prospects in the millimeter-wave engineering. In particular, under defined size ratios and for determination of the specific wave types in DWG on the basis of SSDWG the “phenomenon on non-radiation” takes place, when irregularities do not cause energy radiation into external environment.
