Abstract :
This paper presents a comparison of three IPM - interior permanent brushless synchronous magnet motor structures realized with the same stator geometry and with three different rotors´ geometries. All rotors have got different shape of rotor´s surface what caused different air gap flux distribution and afterwards effects shape of induced phase voltage - EMF. Three motors are analysed as candidate for a mass production for an AMT (automated manual transmission) application. The important factors for an AMT applications like: torque vs speed characteristics, power density, cogging torque, rotor inertia, sizing, robustness and costs are compared.
