  • Abstract
In the precision machine tool contour tracking application, the main concerns are the tangential invariable feed rate and the normal errors. This paper proposes a static de-coupled contour control arithmetic to achieve effect and decoupled control of these concerns. The arithmetic was based on a coordinate transformation between the x-y frame to a tangential-contouring frame, and the coordinate transformation matrix elements were included in the static decoupled matrix to simplify the design process. Experimental results of the proposed control law on the motion axes of a precision machine tool, HCM-I, showed significant improvement of the contouring accuracy compared to the existing servo controller.
