Abstract :
The importance of hybrid electric vehicles keeps growing for both economical and ecological reasons. The designers of the electric powertrain for hybrid electric vehicles have to choose the best adapted electric traction machine principally among folio wings possibilities: induction machine (IM), permanent synchronous machine (PSM) or switched reluctance machine (SRM). The present publication describes the impact of the efficiency characteristic map of these three electric machine types with identical construction sizes on the fuel saving potential with the help of a MATLAB/SIMULINK Model of a hybrid electric vehicle.
