Abstract
Summary form only given R/sub 2/Fe/sub 17/ compounds (where R is a rare - earth element) crystallize in two structural: hexagonal (with Th/sub 2/Ni/sub 17/ type and P6/sub 3//MMC space group) and rhombohedral (Th/sub 2/Zn/sub 17/ type and R3m space group). The type of structure depends on the size of the R atom.
