Abstract
A high resolution pattern diversity method is presented for resolving multiple coherent plane waves impinging on a linear array. In this method, use is made of several different choices for the common pattern of array elements forming the array, allowing the rank of the resulting signal-only covariance matrix to be equal to the number of plane wave arrivals even if multiple coherent sources are presented. The underlying method does not require a uniform array, nor does it require an array in motion. The theoretical development of the method and simulation results are provided
