Abstract :
In this paper, a High Density Power Converter to power Remotely Operated Loads is proposed. While offering improved efficiency and better EMI performance, it eliminates the need for a bulky 60 Hz transformer which is prone to failures due to shock and vibration in the compact environment, thus improving reliability. Simulations have shown that the use of the proposed converter ensures that both the AC and DC loads are satisfied. Analysis of how the proposed high density converter supplies both the loads is provided. Design equations and the small signal model are derived for the Zero Voltage Switched DC-DC stage of the converter. The converter is successfully simulated with ZVS operation, thus reducing the switching losses and further increasing the power density.
