Abstract :
Summary form only given. A recently suggested homogenization procedure for calculation of field quantities in laminated electric steel has proved to considerably speed up the calculation time. One limitation of the method is that it only works in situations where the eddy currents are small. We present an extension of this procedure such that substantial eddy currents can be treated. The governing idea is to resolve the spatial distribution of the eddy currents within the laminate and then to apply the homogenization procedure. The following resolution methods have been evaluated: approximate analytical solution of the dispersion equation, finite difference approximation of the field equation and lumped element modeling of the current distribution.
