  • Abstract
In communication systems employing multiple beam antennas, multi-port amplifiers (MPA) offer a flexibility of allocating/moving power or capacity among beams easily, to maximize the usage of the total capacity available, assuming that power amplifiers (PA) are linear. In this paper, we show that when the PAs are nonlinear, the MPA performance is severely limited due to the PAspsila nonlinearity, and we demonstrate that power efficiency and system performance can be significantly improved by linearizing the PAs.
