Abstract
The need to address the fragility of the digital information collected in artistic activities is urgently emerging and increasing. This need is particularly heightened by new multimedia technologies that support the artistic community with many different forms of digital means. The present work concerns an ontology layering architecture for organizing and maintaining a semantic knowledge base for digital preservation of interactive multimedia performances. In addition, the use of certain ISO standardized ontologies is demonstrated in modelling the domain of interactive multimedia performances.
