Abstract
The aim of this study is to investigate functional model of neurons on mesoscopic level. As a typical example, neural model of brainstem-cortex-thalamus circuit was established to simulate the global activities of neuron population. The output of the model was derivative of postsynaptic potential, which was simulated to EEG. The epileptic-like EEGs were demonstrated in the case of signal conductance malfunction between brainstem and cortex. The results are useful to support the hypothesis that brainstem malfunction is responsible for the pathogenesis of infantile spasm-one of refractory epilepsies
