Abstract
Summary form only given. The purposes of this paper are (a) to obtain experimental results that reveal all the significant modes of fluid-dynamic bearing (FDB) spindles, and (b) to verify an existing mathematical model with our experimental results. The experimental results indicate three sets of rocking modes and a set of axial modes.
