Abstract :
An important class of ultra-wideband (UWB) systems employs a time-hopping (TH) code to construct the transmitted signal. Impulse radio (IR) is the best known example. For these systems the problem of controlling the spectrum shape by means of the TH code is addressed. Several code construction methods that allow placing a notch or a zero in a selected frequency is introduced. Simulations results are presented that confirm our analysis and allow to assess the extent to which the spectrum can be controlled by means of the TH code.
