Abstract
A novel hybrid TDMA/binary CDMA system (TD-BCDMA) for multi-media communications is proposed and its synchronization performance in terms of false alarm probability versus detection probability is evaluated. As a multi-code CDMA that has TDMA waveform, binary CDMA and its error performance is introduced. Binary CDMA limits the level of signal synthesized from multiple input signals multiplied by orthogonal codes to binary level by amplitude clipping to maintain the signal amplitude constant. We demonstrated the example how TD-BCDMA is adopted in the ad hoc network. And we studied on the performance of synchronization of two different schemes, one of them use a preamble as TDMA does and the other uses sync channel as CDMA does. We found out that the preamble scheme is more practical than the synch channel scheme in terms of designing a correlator and the initial acquisition time.
