Abstract :
Loss of anonymity, bribery, and coercion are more serious in small-scale voting than in large-scale voting. This paper shows that the entropy of each vote can be decreased, i.e., the anonymity of voting can be compromised, if the number of votes for each candidate is disclosed. It gives two strict definitions of anonymity instead of the previous definition and, based on the new definitions, proposes a new electronic voting scheme that keeps the number of votes secret. The security of the proposed scheme is equivalent to that of an existing multiparty protocol.
