Abstract :
Based on observations of electrically active mesosphere characteristics, the effects of large mesospheric electric fields on the terrestrial D region height structure have been modeled. The large mesospheric electric field strengths exceeding 2 V/m are shown to result in forming a local minimum in the height profile of atmospheric conductivity between 60- and 70-km altitudes.
