Abstract :
Summary form only given. The measurement of hindered settling in magnetic dispersions has been carried out using a Scanning Column Magnetometer (SCM) technique previously developed to investigate dispersion stability. The authors show the profiles obtained using the SCM of Pigment Volume Concentration (PVC) as a function of column height. Accumulated profiles of the same sample (based on a commercial /spl gamma/-Fe/sub 2/O/sub 3/ tape formulation) are shown over time in order to illustrate the settling process.
