Abstract :
This paper proposes a novel LCD backlight inverter using a simple control circuit of low-cost with a dimming control, which utilizes zero voltage switching (ZVS) technique. This paper reviews the cold cathode fluorescent lamp (CCFL) characteristics and the various inverter topologies for the CCFL, briefly. And it introduces a new simple E-class inverter circuit topology and its control technique. The proposed inverter can ensure ZVS operation under most operating conditions and simply perform the dimming control. It is shown through experimental results that the controller of the proposed system has good performance for the LCD backlight inverter operation.
