Abstract :
By means of a new active control scheme, the full - bridge series parallel resonant converter is employed to create a novel single-stage high power factor correction (SSHPFC) converter. The current driven property of the series-parallel resonant tank alleviated the need of the bulky input inductance. Together with the high frequency operation of the resonant converter, it allows a compact size converter. The self-sustained phase shift modulation (SSPSM) controller is modified to give an active current control scheme for the power factor correction applications. The design procedure for a 600 W converter is given in detail. Analytical, simulation, and experimental results are given to provide the proof of concept.
