Abstract :
The communications manager ProgREDSI, an integration of a phone, an agenda, an answering machine, and a phone directory that adds integrated services digital network (ISDN) communications capabilities to any personal computer is described. ProgREDSI improves the efficiency of office communications by offering a universal port for ISDN narrowband communications services. The system is divided into two parts: a plug-in card (called SUport) with a microprocessor and the three lower layers of ISDN protocols for the D channel running on it, and a memory-resident program (called Hermes), working as an interface between the end user and the communications card.
