Abstract :
A multiple threshold channel reservation (MTCR) scheme that partitions the system channels into several regions according to call priority for multiple data rate services of the integrated WLAN and GPRS network is proposed. The effect of the overlaid WLAN area size on the traffic performance is investigated. The simulation results demonstrate that compared with the complete sharing (CS) scheme, the proposed MTCR scheme can provide the same new call blocking probability for the different data rate services and lower handoff failure probability in the integrated GPRS/WLAN networks
