Abstract :
Summary form only given. Head sliders of hard disk drives are facing critical thermal problems. Increasing write current and frequency increases the temperature of a coil, which can degrade the reliability of the coil itself. It also leads to pole-tip protrusion on the ABS (Air Bearing Surface), which causes tribological Little has been reported so far, about measurements of the ABS temperature while a slider is flying on a rotating disk. In-situ temperature measurement methodologies will help verify numerical results and refine calculation models.
