Abstract :
Basic exchange radio (BEXR) is a point-to-multipoint wireless subscriber loop carrier system for basic exchange teeommunications radio services (BETRS) in rural areas. Frequencies for BETRS in the United Stttare in the 150-MHz, 450-MHz, and 800-MHz bands. The authors present a preliminary statistical analysis of measured fading data for a BEXR link. Due to significant differences in the antenna beam widths and path clearance, the statistical behaviors of fading signals on the BEXR links differ from those on the microwave links. The authors compare predictions by the existing microwave radio models with the measured BEXR data, and propose modifications to the microwave models to extend their applicability to BEXR links
