Abstract :
Modeling and analysis play an important role in the successful development and implementation of manufacturing systems. This role is critical for the realization of agile manufacturing systems. The vast range of modeling and analysis tools need to be systematically applied through the manufacturing system development for best results. This paper describes the role of modeling and analysis during the manufacturing system development cycle and proposes a virtual factory framework for their systematic and efficient use
