Abstract :
In this paper, based on a dual mechanical port machine (DMPM), a novel dual power flow wind power generation system (DPF-WPGS) is proposed and analyzed. The operation principle of DPF-WPGS and the dynamic model of DMPM are introduced. The control strategies are analyzed and simulated in Matlab/Simulink. To evaluate the performance of DMPM-based WPGS, two other conventional WPGSs, namely, the direct-drive permanent magnet synchronous generator (PMSG)-based WPGS and doubly-fed induction generator (DFIG)-based WPGS, are compared under the same control strategies and given wind power inputs. The simulated results reveal that the power generation efficiency of DMPM-based WPGS is comparable with PMSG- and DFIG-based WPGSs, and DMPM-based WPGS is very promising in large scale offshore wind power applications.
