Abstract
In this work, the performance of a non-conventional IR Surface Plasmon Resonance SPR gas sensor structure based on the use of a double negative index (DNG) material is investigated and compared to the performance using a single negative material (SNG). Following plane wave analysis, DNG-based structure gives an enhanced performance almost eight times better than SNG-based structure. The performance of both SNG and DNG-based structures are studied and compared under the effect of oblique incident Gaussian beams with different spot sizes.
