Abstract
In this paper, a simple and accurate approach to model the energy consumption in RLC trees is proposed. The approach followed is based on the extraction of an appropriate equivalent 2nd-order RLC circuit. The validity of the approximation is justified by considering the peculiar pole-zero location in RLC tree circuits. Analysis allows for expressing the resistance, capacitance and inductance of this equivalent circuit as an explicit function of the resistances, capacitances and inductances of the original network. This allows for deriving the equivalent circuit in a very simple manner, which leads to a very efficient model suitable for fast simulations. Extensive circuit simulations show that the model has a very good accuracy, as its error is typically in the order of 1.5%.
