  • Abstract
The paper describes a new technique to establish binary links between integrated circuits. The operation of conventional single-ended I/Os, which are commonly used in integrated systems like microprocessors, DSPs and memories is first described and the main drawbacks are highlighted. Based on that, the paper shows a new I/O circuit whose operating principle is based on the transmission of low power electric pulses. This circuit strongly reduces power consumption, power- ground bounce as well as electromagnetic emissions.
