Abstract
Facet reflectivity and propagation loss of very compact substrate removed GaAs/AlGaAs optical waveguides were studied both theoretically and experimentally. Propagation loss as low as 1 dB/cm was demonstrated. The measured propagation loss correlates well with calculation.
