Abstract :
Summary form only given. Because of high magnetic anisotropy (Ku: 7 /spl times/ 10/sup 7/ erg/cm/sup 3/) of the ordered FePt L1/sub 0/ phase, FePt composite films with small FePt grains dispersed in nonmagnetic matrix are attractive for very high density magnetic recording. Usually as-deposited FePt alloy thin films are disordered phase and thus need to be annealed to form the L1/sub 0/ phase and align the c-axis for practical application.
