Abstract :
Phase-control method of capacitor currents was accomplished by a basic circuit composed of a comparator device and a self turn-off device. This basic circuit is upgraded and the rapidly variable phase-control circuit, which can vary the control phase rapidly, is realized. Phase controlling of capacitor currents makes it easy for the capacitor to be connected to the ac source and disconnected from it without spike currents, moreover, causes no residual potential at the disconnected capacitor. Therefore, this circuit is useful as a switch of capacitor currents and is expected to be used as a variable reactive power compensator. This paper reports the switching characteristics of capacitor currents by the actual measurements in case of driving plural rapidly variable phase-control circuits parallely.
