Abstract :
A compact and planar balun filter made of a microstrip square patch resonator is proposed. By cutting an inclined crossed slot at the center of the patch, two poles can be introduced to the passband. In the design, the patch is capacitively coupled to the outputs through two C-shaped feedlines. Two transmission zeros are also found in one of the filtering passbands, increasing the frequency selectivity of the system. Both the filter and balun parts are studied theoretically and the results are verified by measurements.
