Abstract :
An alternative connection topology for a wind turbine with doubly-fed induction generator is explored, wherein the rotor is tied directly to the power grid and the stator is connected through a power electronic converter. Experiments are performed on a 7.5-kW machine to evaluate the topology. The proposed configuration is found to be more efficient than current practice.
