Abstract :
This paper proposes a novel method utilizing three cameras for object extraction. Accurate stereo matching is possible without expensive camera setting apparatus even when lighting conditions are poor and/or backgrounds contain many reflective or moving objects. Experimental results show the method to support high quality object extraction. The proposed method promises to be an important tool for use with object scalable coding, which is currently being actively considered by MPEG-4
