Abstract :
The authors evaluate network configurations for low-speed leased circuits when new transmission equipment is introduced. They study the allocation of the cross-connect function in a hierarchical network configuration. The capacity of the transmission system and segregation of leased circuits from public circuits are evaluated from the point of view of economy for low-speed leased-circuit networks in a metropolitan area. Network configurations are also evaluated for various circuit demand levels and future equipment costs
