Abstract :
This paper describes the development of an optical burst mode receiver for next generation passive optical network applications. Commercially available integrated circuits were used in this design and a dedicated experimental test setup was arranged for the prototype performance verification and preliminary characterization. Results revealed a very good sensitivity, which meets the draft specifications.
