    Different algorithmic approaches to the task of numerically simulating simplified electro-physiological settings encountered in field stimulation experiments of cardiac preparations are compared. Rapid prototyping environments for dynamic system simulation as well as dedicated libraries for high performance computing are employed to serve the varying needs
