  • Abstract
Automatic-repeat-request (ARQ) techniques are largely used to improve the performance of a digital communication system. A go-back-N protocol with a suitable buffer and memory at the receiver side is described. The performance of the technique was evaluated through computer simulations by using a channel model suitable for mobile communications. The results show that the proposed ARQ scheme achieves a higher performance than other similar ARQ protocols. For high error rates, its efficiency becomes comparable with the selective protocol with infinite buffer, but it presents a low implementation complexity and a structure available for mobile communications
