Abstract :
The blackout problem, encountered by hypersonic vehicles due to the presence of plasma sheath, will have non-ignorable and even fatal effects on communication qualities during re-entry process. A primary goal of this paper is to investigate the information transmission properties of 2ASK digital system through plasma sheath. Plasma sheath simulation model is first proposed on the basis of the principle of digital communication. Then theoretical formulas, which intend to calculate BER (Bit Error Rate) of 2ASK system employing coherent demodulation method, are derived from this simulation model. In addition, BER are calculated by means of MATLAB with the same parameters in the re-entry variable channel and the general channel respectively. All efforts we have made in this paper can provide a theoretical basis for the investigation of the information transmission properties through re-entry blackout region.
